Al-'Alaq Suresi

اِ۪قۡرَأۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لَّذِي خَلَقَ

Read! In the name of your Lord, Who created (everything that exists)

خَلَقَ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ

He creates man from a clot (of blood)

اِ۪قۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ اَ۬لۡأَكۡرَمُ

Read! Your Lord is the most Generous

اُ۬لَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالۡقَلَمِ

He it is, Who imparted knowledge by the pen

عَلَّمَ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ

Taught man what he did not know

كَلَّآ إِنَّ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغٜ يٰٓ

No, of course not! Man is surely rebellious

أَن رَّء۪اهُ اُ۪سۡتَغۡنٜ يٰٓ

For, he thinks he is independent

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لرُّجۡعٜ يٰٓ

(Even though his final) return is towards your Lord

أَرَءَيۡتَ اَ۬لَّذِي يَنۡهٜ يٰ

Did you (oh Muhammad, SAW), see the one who forbids

عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلّٜ يٰٓ

The servant (of Allah) to perform ´salat´

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى اَ۬لۡهُدٜ يٰٓ

What do you think? Is he well guided

أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقۡوٜ يٰٓ

And (does he) enjoin piety

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٜ يٰٓ

Or do you think he denied and turned away

أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَر۪يٰ

Does he not know that Allah watches (everything)

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ

Of course not! If he did not desist, We will surely drag him by the hair on his forehead

نَاصِيَةࣲ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةࣲ‏

The lying sinful lock of hair

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ

He may then call his henchmen for help

سَنَدۡعُ اُ۬لزَّبَانِيَةَ

While, We shall summon the guardians of hell

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَاَسۡجُدۡۤ وَاَقۡتَرِب۩

No! Beware! Do not follow such a one. (Rather), fall prostrate and draw closer (to Allah)
