1

وَاَلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ اِ۬لۡبُرُوجِ

(I swear) by the sky, with (all) its constellations

2

وَاَلۡيَوۡمِ اِ۬لۡمَوۡعُودِ

(And by) the promised day (of Judgment)

3

وَشَاهِدࣲ وَمَشۡهُودࣲ‏

And (by) the witness (bearing the evidence), as well as the evidence (itself)

4

قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ اُ۬لۡأُخۡدُودِ

Doomed are the people of the ditch

5

اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ ذَاتِ اِ۬لۡوَقُودِ

(The ditch) full of fire and abundant fuel

6

إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودࣱ‏

Remember, when the unbelievers sat by the fire

7

وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودࣱ‏

And were themselves witness to what they did to the believers

8

وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِاللَّهِ اِ۬لۡعَزِيزِ اِ۬لۡحَمِيدِ

They were hostile (and rancorous), just because the believers believed in Allah, the most Powerful and the most Praiseworthy

9

اِ۬لَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَاَللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ شَهِيدٌ

To Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Allah is the Witness to every single thing

10

إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ اُ۬لۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَاَلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ اُ۬لۡحَرِيقِ

Indeed, those who persecuted the believing men and women and then failed to repent, would (certainly) face the torture of hell. For them, is the punishment of the blazing fire

11

إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّٰتࣱ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا اَ۬لۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لۡفَوۡزُ اُ۬لۡكَبِيرُ

While the (blissful) paradise _ rivers run right through it _ is for those who believe and do righteous deeds. That is the greatest triumph

12

۞إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Your Lord´s punishment is very severe, indeed

13

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

It is He Who created; and He it is, Who will recreate

14

وَهۡوَ اَ۬لۡغَفُورُ اُ۬لۡوَدُودُ

He is the most Forgiving and the most Loving

15

ذُو اُ۬لۡعَرۡشِ اِ۬لۡمَجِيدُ

Owner of the majestic throne

16

فَعَّالࣱ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ

(The Efficient Achiever)! He does what He pleases

17

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ اُ۬لۡجُنُودِ

Has the story of the armies reached you

18

فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ

(Armies of) the pharaoh and the (people of) ´Samood´

19

بَلِ اِ۬لَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبࣲ‏

The unbelievers, in fact (were and) are (persistent) in their denial

20

وَاَللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ

Allah has surrounded them all around

21

بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانࣱ مَّجِيدࣱ‏

This (narrative) is certainly the majestic Qur´an

22

فِي لَوۡحࣲ مَّحۡفُوظِۢ

Safely preserved on (the sacred) slates
