1

الٓر۪ۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُ۬لۡكِتَٰبِ وَقُرۡءَانࣲ مُّبِينࣲ‏

Alif, Laam, Ra. These are the verses of the book, a clear lucid Qur´an

2

رُّبَّمَا يَوَدُّ اُ۬لَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡ كَانُواْ مُسۡلِمِينَ

There will come a time when the unbelievers would look back and yearn to have lived as obedient ones

3

ذَرۡهُمۡ يَأۡكُلُواْ وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَيُلۡهِهِمِ اِ۬لۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ

So leave them alone. Let them eat and enjoy! Let their hopes distract and perplex them. They will soon come to know

4

وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ‏

We never destroy any locality except in accordance with a preordained scheme and time-plan

5

مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ

No generation shall hasten or delay the term fixed for it

6

وَقَالُواْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيۡهِ اِ۬لذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ‏

They (the unbelievers) said, "Oh you, upon whom this reminder is revealed! You are really insane

7

لَّوۡمَا تَأۡتِينَا بِالۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَ

Wouldn´t you have come to us with angels, had you been truthful

8

مَا تَنَزَّلُ اُ۬لۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِلَّا بِالۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ إِذࣰ ا مُّنظَرِينَ

We dispatch the angels only with the final judgment. In that case, they would have no respite

9

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا اَ۬لذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ

Indeed it is We Who revealed this Qur´an, and of course We are its guardian

10

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ اِ۬لۡأَوَّلِينَ

Indeed, prior to you too, We sent (messengers) __ even to ancient tribes

11

وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

They mocked every messenger that ever came to them

12

كَذَٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِي قُلُوبِ اِ۬لۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

Thus We let this (mockery) pass through the hearts of the criminals

13

لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَت سُّنَّةُ اُ۬لۡأَوَّلِينَ

They do not believe! This has been the tradition of their ancestors

14

وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابࣰ ا مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعۡرُجُونَ

Even if We were to fling open a door in the sky, and they were actually climbing up through it

15

لَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمࣱ مَّسۡحُورُونَ

They would say, "Our sights fail us, we are drugged. Rather, we are a nation bewitched

16

وَلَقَد جَّعَلۡنَا فِي اِ۬لسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجࣰ ا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ

And surely, We created fortified spheres in the sky, and for the viewers We decorated it

17

وَحَفِظۡنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنࣲ رَّجِيمٍ

And We have secured it against every cursed Shaitan

18

إِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪سۡتَرَقَ اَ۬لسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ مُّبِينࣱ‏

Occasionally, one of them eavesdrops, and a bright blazing meteor streaks after him

19

وَاَلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ مَّوۡزُونࣲ‏

We spread out the land and pitched mountains on it, firm and immovable. In the land, We grew all kinds of things in a perfect balance

20

وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ

Out of the land, We provide livelihood for you, and other creations, too. You are not their providers

21

وَإِن مِّن شَيۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ‏

We have all things in infinite quantities. We mete them out in measured amounts

22

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا اَ۬لرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ

We circulate the winds full of moisture. We send rain down from the sky, and We have you drink that water. You could not hold that (much water) in reservoirs

23

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحۡنُ اُ۬لۡوَٰرِثُونَ

We, indeed, grant life as well as death! And We are the (ultimate) Receiver and Inheritor

24

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا اَ۬لۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِينَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا اَ۬لۡمُسۡتَـٔۡخِرِينَ

We surely know those who have gone by before you, just as We know those who have yet to come

25

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمࣱ‏

Your Lord will, indeed, gather them all. Verily, He is the Wisest and all-Knowing

26

۞وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ‏

Surely, We have molded the humans from the dried-out stinking clay

27

وَاَلۡجَآنَّ خَلَقۡنَٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نّ۪ارِ اِ۬لسَّمُومِ

And We had earlier fashioned jinn from a hot sultry flame

28

وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَٰلِقُۢ بَشَرࣰ ا مِّن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ‏

Your Lord said to the angels, "I am going to bring a man into existence from the dried-out stinking clay

29

فَإِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ

When I put him in order and breathe my spirit into him, you must fall prostrate before him

30

فَسَجَدَ اَ۬لۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ

The angels fell prostrate! All of them

31

إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَ

Except Ibleees! He refused to be among those who fell prostrate

32

قَالَ يَٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَ

(Allah) said, "Oh Iblees! What is the matter? Why did you not fall prostrate

33

قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ‏

He said, "I am not the one to prostrate myself before a man! You have fashioned him from the dried-out stinking clay

34

قَالَ فَاَخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمࣱ‏

(Allah) said, "Get out of here! You, surely, are damned

35

وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكَ اَ۬للَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ اِ۬لدِّينِ

Curse will loom over you till the Day of Judgment

36

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِيٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ

He (Iblees) said, "Oh my Lord, grant me a moratorium till the day You raise them again

37

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لۡمُنظَرِينَ

(Allah) said, "you have been granted the stay

38

إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ اِ۬لۡوَقۡتِ اِ۬لۡمَعۡلُومِ

Till that appointed day

39

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغۡوَيۡتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِي اِ۬لۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِيَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

(Iblees) said, "My Lord, since You led me astray, I will definitely embellish the allure of this world for them. I will fascinate and entice them all away

40

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ اُ۬لۡمُخۡلِصِينَ

Except the sincere ones among Your servants

41

قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسۡتَقِيمٌ

(Allah) said, "This Qur´an is, indeed, the path straight towards Me

42

إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيۡسَ لَكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪تَّبَعَكَ مِنَ اَ۬لۡغَاوِينَ

You shall have no hold over My servants except those who follow you and stray from the path

43

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

And verily, hell is the promised place for them all

44

لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَٰبࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ

It has seven gates, each for a different class of sinners

45

إِنَّ اَ۬لۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّٰتࣲ وَعُيُونٍ

The pious shall be in paradise, amid its fountains

46

اِ۟دۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ

(They shall be told to) enter it in peace and security

47

وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ

We will rid their hearts of the residual rancor and resentment. Seated on couches and facing each other, they will live there like brothers

48

لَا يَمَسُّهُمۡ فِيهَا نَصَبࣱ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِينَ

There, they will encounter no hardship, and they will never be asked to leave

49

نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِيَ أَنِّيَ أَنَا اَ۬لۡغَفُورُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُ

(Oh Mohammed, SAW), inform My servants that I am the most Forgiving. Indeed, I am the most Kind

50

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ اَ۬لۡعَذَابُ اُ۬لۡأَلِيمُ

The punishment I inflict is really very painful

51

۞وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ

And inform them about Ibraheem´s guests

52

إِذ دَّخَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰمࣰ ا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ

They came to him and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you

53

قَالُواْ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمࣲ‏

They said, "Don´t be afraid! In fact, we give you the good news of a son endowed with wisdom

54

قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِي عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ اَ۬لۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ

Do you give me this news even though I have attained an old age? What kind of good news is that

55

قَالُواْ بَشَّرۡنَٰكَ بِالۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لۡقَٰنِطِينَ

They said, "We bring you this good news with certainty. So, do not be pessimistic

56

قَالَ وَمَن يَقۡنِطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا اَ۬لضَّآلُّونَ

He (Ibraheem) said, "Only the misguided abandon hope in the mercy of their Lord

57

قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا اَ۬لۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

Said, "What is your mission, Oh angels

58

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِينَ

They said, "We have been dispatched towards a nation of criminals

59

إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

Other than the family of Loot. For, we will rescue them all

60

إِلَّا اَ۪مۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ اَ۬لۡغَٰبِرِينَ

With the exception of his wife who, it is decreed, will be among those who shall lag behind

61

فَلَمَّا جَآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ اِ۬لۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

And when they came to visit the family of Loot

62

قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ

He (Loot) said, "You appear to be strangers here

63

قَالُواْ بَلۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَ

They replied, "Rather, we come to accomplish that about which they were in doubt

64

وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَ بِالۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ

We bring you the infallible certainty! What we say is really the truth

65

فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ اَ۬لَّيۡلِ وَاَتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا يَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدࣱ وَاَمۡضُواْ حَيۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ

Let your family slip away under the cover of darkness. You follow them closely and let none of you glance back! Continue on towards the directed spot

66

وَقَضَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقۡطُوعࣱ مُّصۡبِحِينَ

We conveyed to him Our decision that by dawn those people will be completely annihilated

67

وَجَآ أَهۡلُ اُ۬لۡمَدِينَةِ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ

The people of the town came (to Loot) rejoicing

68

قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيۡفِي فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ

He said, "They are my guests. Do not disgrace me

69

وَاَتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ

Fear Allah and do not humiliate me

70

قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لۡعَٰلَمِينَ

They said, "Did we not forbid you to stand up for the whole world

71

قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ

He said, "Here are my daughters. If you follow my advice

72

لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

(I swear) upon your life, (oh Mohammed, SAW) they were intoxicated _ rampaging and out of control

73

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ اُ۬لصَّيۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِينَ

So at the crack of dawn, a blast grabbed them

74

فَجَعَلۡنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

We flipped them upside down! We rained upon them stones made of baked clay

75

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَ

Herein are the signs for those who scrutinize closely

76

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلࣲ مُّقِيمٍ

That town happens to be located along a main thoroughfare

77

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

In this are signs for the believers

78

وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَٰبُ اُ۬لۡأَيۡكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ

And the people (living in the town) of ´Aika´ were evildoers

79

فَاَنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِينࣲ‏

We breathed vengeance upon them. Those (two settlements) existed on the main travel routes

80

۞وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ اُ۬لۡحِجۡرِ اِ۬لۡمُرۡسَلِينَ

The people of (the town) of ´Hijr´ too, had rejected the messengers

81

وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِينَ

We sent the messengers with Our signs, but they ignored

82

وَكَانُواْ يَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ

They used to carve safe and secure homes in the mountains

83

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ اُ۬لصَّيۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِينَ

A mighty blast grabbed them in the morning

84

فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ

None of what they used to gain and gather could offer them any security or protection

85

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِالۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ اَ۬لسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةࣱۖ فَاَصۡفَحِ اِ۬لصَّفۡحَ اَ۬لۡجَمِيلَ

We created the heavens and the earth, and all else in between, with a specific purpose! The hour (of Judgment) is sure to arrive! So, forgive and forget with grace

86

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَ۬لۡخَلَّٰقُ اُ۬لۡعَلِيمُ

Surely, your Lord is the Omniscient, the ingenious Creator

87

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰكَ سَبۡعࣰ ا مِّنَ اَ۬لۡمَثَانِي وَاَلۡقُرۡءَانَ اَ۬لۡعَظِيمَ

We have bestowed seven verses upon you, (the Surah Fatiha), worthy of being recited repeatedly, and the Majestic Qur´an

88

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيۡنَيۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَاَخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

Do not covet the temporary enjoyment We have bestowed upon certain groups of them. Do not grieve for them. Rather, be considerate to the believers

89

وَقُلۡ إِنِّيَ أَنَا اَ۬لنَّذِيرُ اُ۬لۡمُبِينُ

Tell them, "I am truly an obvious warner for you

90

كَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى اَ۬لۡمُقۡتَسِمِينَ

Like the one We sent to those who split into groups

91

اَ۬لَّذِينَ جَعَلُواْ اُ۬لۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِينَ

Those who separated the Qur´an into fragments

92

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡـَٔلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

By your Lord! We will definitely call them all to accounts

93

عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

About what they used to do

94

فَاَصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ اِ۬لۡمُشۡرِكِينَ

So, proclaim as commanded, and ignore the idol worshippers

95

إِنَّا كَفَيۡنَٰكَ اَ۬لۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِينَ

We are more than sufficient against those who scoff

96

اَ۬لَّذِينَ يَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ

Those assigning other gods besides Allah will soon come to know

97

وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ

Of course, We know that their remarks sting your heart

98

فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَ

Chant the praises of your Lord! Be among those who fall prostrate

99

وَاَعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأۡتِيَكَ اَ۬لۡيَقِينُ

And remain obedient to your Lord, right until your death
